TALENT ON THE MOVE 2015 - CODARTS DANCE ROTTERDAM

Codarts is a Rotterdam based international university providing high level professional arts education in music, dance and circus arts. The university has about 1,000 students of 50 different nationalities  and around 340 faculty and staff members. The dance department of Codarts (formerly Rotterdam Dance Academy) was founded in 1931 by modern dance pioneers Corrie Hartong and Gertrud Leistikow. It has developed into one of the leading institutes for contemporary dance in Europe.

Codarts offers Bachelor degrees for contemporary dancers and dance teachers as well as a Master degree in dance therapy. Graduates from Codarts can be found all over the world in successful careers in their respective fields. Codarts is embedded in an international network of dance artists and companies.

The aspiring dancers of Codarts have the opportunity to gain experience through artistic collaborations with a wide range of choreographers and teachers. They regularly perform nationally and internationally and they are able to finish their studies with an internship at one of the many Codarts affiliated companies and projects.
Most recently, Codarts concluded a 4 year research project with world renown choreographer Jiri Kylian. This project resulted in a book: One Of A Kind.

STUDENTS OF HARMONY - SEAD

In the new choreographic work students of harmony, created for SEAD‘s BODHI PROJECT, Ferlin investigated the potentials of harmony while redefining ways to articulate between set and improvised movement material. This hour long group work, underscored by Clara

Rockmore‘s music, offers a playlist of edgy, raw and turbulent movement structures embodied by dancers‘ physicality and performative endurance.students of harmony continues the formal research entitled Equalizing, a movement system developed by Ferlin for The Other At The Same Time, his most recent group piece.
