Join us for this long awaited collaboration with International Queer and Migrant Filmfestival. Especially for CT Cinematic, they have selected their favorite documentaries from the queer dance scene for an afternoon at Compagnietheater, with a special art exhibition and DJ Lady Shady in the bar from 1:30PM
At 2PM, we start the film program containing three shorts:
Father Figure – Bibi Fadlalla (Netherlands, 2019) ’25 minutes
For young black gay men navigating the world can be a disturbing experience. As Kiki House founder Guilliano (26) explains: “being black and gay means being two steps behind in life”. In this narrative collage film Guilliano and his friends share personal experiences of homophobia, racism and marginalization in everyday life and the ways in which they find solace and community.
Sex Sirens – Max Kutschenreuter & Poppy Sanchez (Netherlands, 2019) ’25 minutes
Sex Sirens explores one of the hottest categories of the Dutch ballroom scene. While preparing to walk at the Circus ball in Amsterdam, four Sex Sirens reflect on their journey within ballroom culture, and their relation to a category that is all about seduction, sensuality, and sexual empowerment. As we follow them on this journey of self exploration we get a better understanding for what it means to be a Sex Siren and why these safe spaces are absolutely necessary in the world we live in today.
Fabulous – Audrey Jean-Baptiste, (French Guyana, 2019) ’52 minutes
Lasseindra Ninja, the main character of the film, is a well-known artist in France’s voguing scene. After building her career through the balls of New York, France and Brazil, among many other main stages, she returns to her home country to introduce voguing in French Guiana. A glimpse of self-liberation and freedom of expression through the body.
CONTEXT PROGRAM
On the ground floor of CT, we are presenting a one-time only art exhibition by …. From 12PM, there will be live DJ sets. The bar will be open from 12PM till 5pm.
At 12PM, another film is screened: Si c’etait de l’amour (If it were love). Want to marathonize and attend both film programs? For 20 euros instead of 25, you can buy a ticket for the whole day here.

The documentaries are French, Dutch and English spoken, with English subtitles.
This event requires all attendees to keep a 1,5M distance and show a Covid certificate (through the CoronaCheck-app) upon entry. A Covid certificate can be proof of vaccination, recovery of corona, or a negative test (from the last 24 hours). Don’t forget to bring your I.D. More information here.

De langverwachte samenwerking is er eindelijk! Speciaal voor CT Cinematic heeft International Queer and Migrant Filmfestival hun favoriete documentaires uit de queer dance scene geselecteerd voor een programma in het Compagnietheater, met een speciale kunstexpositie en dj’s in de bar!
Om 14.00 uur starten we het filmprogramma met drie korte films:
Father Figure – Bibi Fadlalla (Nederlands, 2019) ’25 minuten
Voor jonge, zwarte homomannen kan het navigeren door de wereld een verontrustende ervaring zijn. Zoals Kiki House-oprichter Guilliano (26) uitlegt: “zwart én homo zijn betekent een achterstand in het leven”. In deze verhalende collagefilm delen Guilliano en zijn vrienden persoonlijke ervaringen van homofobie, racisme en marginalisering in het dagelijks leven en de manieren waarop ze troost en gemeenschap vinden.
Sex Sirens – Max Kutschenreuter & Poppy Sanchez (Netherlands, 2019) ’25 minuten
Sex Sirens verkent een van de hotste categorieën van de Nederlandse ballroomscene. Terwijl ze zich voorbereiden op de Circus Ball in Amsterdam, reflecteren vier Sex Sirens op hun plek in de ballroomcultuur en hun relatie tot een categorie die draait om verleiding, sensualiteit en seksuele empowerment. We volgen ze op een reis van zelfonderzoek, krijgen een beter begrip van wat het betekent om een Sex Sirene te zijn en waarom deze safe spaces absoluut noodzakelijk zijn in de wereld van vandaag.

Lasseindra Ninja, het hoofdpersonage van de film, is een bekende artiest in de Franse modescene. Nadat ze haar carrière heeft opgebouwd in de ballroomscene van New York, Frankrijk en Brazilië, naast vele andere grote podia, keert ze terug naar haar thuisland om voguing in Frans-Guyana te introduceren. Een blik op zelfbevrijding en vrijheid van meningsuiting via het lichaam.
CONTEXT PROGRAMMA
Op de begane grond van CT is een expositie en van 12:00 tot 17:00 zijn er live DJ-sets in onze bar.
Om 12.00 uur start het eerste programma Si c’etait l’amour (If it were love). Wil je er een binge-middag van maken en beide filmprogramma’s bijwonen? Een combiticket voor de hele dag kost 20 euro i.p.v 25 en koop je hier!

De documentaire is Frans en Engels gesproken, met Engelse ondertiteling.
