AFRO_VIBES FESTIVAL 2020 is happening! The 17th edition will be held in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht from 1-10 October, with the festival opening at Compagnietheater on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of October. This year with performances by contemporary and unconventional theatre makers and artists from South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Tunisia, Senegal and of course, from the Netherlands.
Festival Theme is Entanglements / Inseparably Connected.
While there are undeniably differences in language, culture, ways of living and communicating between the cultures of our world, there is a entanglement that encompasses all of us and which we are all part of. Even in moments of physical isolation for our safety, there is a sense of community. Because we know that an individual action by one of us can affect hundreds of us. We all go through this together and we can only solve it together. It is this interwovenness and associate intimacy that Afro_Vibes puts at the forefront this year.

AFRO_VIBES FESTIVAL 2020 gaat door! Van 1-10 oktober is de 17e editie in Amsterdam, Rotterdam en Utrecht, met de opening in het Compagnietheater op 1, 2, en 3 oktober. Dit jaar met voorstellingen van actuele en eigenzinnige makers en kunstenaars uit Zuid-Afrika, Nigeria, Oeganda, Tunesië, Senegal en natuurlijk uit Nederland.
Festival thema is Entanglements / Onlosmakelijk Verbonden.
Hoewel er grote verschillen zijn in taal, cultuur, onze manieren van leven en communiceren tussen de culturen in onze wereld, is er een verbondenheid die ons allemaal omvat en waar we allemaal deel van uitmaken. Ook in de momenten van fysiek isolement voor onze veiligheid is er een gevoel van gemeenschap. Omdat we weten dat een individuele handeling van een van ons honderden anderen kan raken. We ondergaan dit allemaal samen en we kunnen het alleen samen oplossen. Het is deze verbondenheid en de intimiteit die daaruit voortkomt die Afro_Vibes dit jaar op de voorgrond plaatst.
